The Council of Ministers has approved amendments to the housing schemes of the Service for the Care and Rehabilitation of Displaced Persons, aiming to enhance displaced persons' access to housing. According to the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, the changes include:

  • Horizontal increase of income thresholds by €5,000 for each category in the construction and purchase housing schemes.
  • Approval of applications exceeding income thresholds by up to 10%, with a corresponding reduction in financial assistance.
  • Calculation of the age of the house based on the connection date to the EAC network, instead of the date of the purchase agreement.
  • Approval of applications for single individuals in cases of disposal of a housing unit that no longer meets the family's current needs.
  • Increase in the age limit for students abroad submitting applications to 25 years for females and 24 for males.
  • Reduction of the housing unit's age from 20 to 15 years for the house repair scheme and alignment of income thresholds with those of the purchase and construction schemes.

These amendments aim to improve housing conditions for displaced persons, addressing contemporary needs and challenges.
