The Ministry of Interior has announced that building permit applications submitted before July 1, 2024, concerning low-risk developments of up to two housing units (Category A), can now be approved within 48 working hours. This is achieved by submitting the special Designer's Declaration Form – checklist to the District Self-Government Organizations (ΕΟΑ).

The Minister of Interior's Decree, effective from December 9, 2024, allows designers with pending applications before July 1, 2024, to resubmit their applications through the new process, ensuring rapid permit issuance. In the first week of implementation, the Nicosia ΕΟΑ received 48 requests for expedited permits. Designers across all districts are encouraged to utilize this process, reducing waiting times and facilitating the quicker construction of homes for their clients
