Protective guardrails are installed at the request of the District Officer or the community leader, addressed to the Department of Public Works.
They are typically placed on high-speed or high-risk roads, at bends, or where there are significant changes in elevation.
Based on research carried out by our firm with the Department of Town Planning and Housing, where no green buffer strip exists, the property is considered to abut directly onto the public road.
However, when any planning permission is being considered, particular attention is paid to the reason the guardrail was originally installed.
